Setting up Outlook
Introduction
The Basis of this instruction set is to give you access to your email using Outlook. However the information contained in this document can be applied to any email client that supports the (Internet Message Access Protocol) IMAP.
Features
Fully Compliant (Internet Message Access Protocol) IMAP server implementing (Secure Socket Layer) Open SSL encryption technology for email clients such as Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger. (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) SMTP server using (Transport Layer Security) TLS and (Simple Authentication Security Layer) SASL. This allows for extremely secure login and transfer of email to and from the server as well as encrypted layers for sending and receiving email. Fully redundant SMTP daemons on separate networks ensuring you never miss a message.
Prerequisites
Some basic computer skills and some familiarization with the Windows operating system is all that is necessary.
Objectives
- Locate the Shortcut for Outlook
- Configure Outlook entering all pertinent information referencing your server and username
- Setup all additional information including security and relay parameters necessary for secure login, and transfer of email.

Locate the Shortcut for Outlook
Open Outlook from either the desktop, quick launch, or start menu.

Configure Outlook
Click Tools >> Email Accounts from the drop down men make sure the Add a new email account radio button is selected then press Next like in the pictures below.

Click on the IMAP radio button then Next this will bring up a screen with several dialog boxes to enter your setting follow the examples below.
User Information
Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear on all your outgoing mail
E-mail Address: Is the address others will reply to when they are responding to your mail. Normally this would be your username followed by @yoursite.com like you@computerking.ca as in the example below.
Login Information
User Name: The name supplied by Computer King the convention your domain name or the last name followed by first initial.
Password: Also supplied by Computer King
Server Information
Incoming Server (IMAP) use mx1.yourdomain.com example mx1.computerking.ca for the server name.
Outgoing Server (SMPT) again use mx1.yourdomain.com example mx1.computerking.ca for the server name.
Do not click next yet follow the instructions below !!!


Setup All Additional Information
Click on More Settings ... and select the Outgoing Server tab check off My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. If you are using mx1.computerking.ca as a mail relay you will need to select the Log on using radio button as in the example below. After this you can enter the username and password supplied by computerking.ca NOTE this is not the same as the username as mention above.


Finally Select the Advanced tab and check the This server requires an SSL-secured connection (SSL)for both the Incoming server (IMAP) and the Outgoing server (SMTP) boxes. Click OK and you are finished setting up Outlook.
